Wine Harbour, Nova Scotia — March 20, 2026

R.J. MacIsaac Construction Ltd. (RJMI) is proud to announce our appointment as General Contractor for the Whale Sanctuary Project, a landmark marine stewardship initiative taking shape in Wine Harbour, Nova Scotia. The project, led by the Whale Sanctuary Project organization, will establish the first seaside sanctuary in North America designed specifically for whales transitioning from marine parks into a natural, protected environment.
With more than 40 years of experience delivering complex marine and coastal infrastructure across Atlantic Canada, RJMI is honoured to bring our expertise to a project that aligns with our long-standing commitment to sustainable marine development.
“Our team is deeply proud to support a project that reflects both innovation and compassion,” said the R.J. MacIsaac Construction leadership team. “The Whale Sanctuary will be a source of environmental leadership for Nova Scotia and a meaningful example of how marine construction and marine stewardship can work hand in hand.”
As General Contractor, RJMI will oversee the construction of the sanctuary’s essential infrastructure, including marine enclosures, shoreline upgrades, and support facilities that will enable safe, ethical, long-term care for the whales.
Located in the sheltered waters near Wine Harbour, the project is expected to bring lasting environmental, educational, and community benefits to the region.
R.J. MacIsaac Construction Ltd. looks forward to collaborating closely with project partners, local residents, and stakeholders throughout every stage of the work.
